Hello, I'm Brandon. This isn't "my world" or "my heart" or any cliche' description that has been thrown around on this website.. This is simply me posting things that I find relevant enough to share with those who decided I was intriguing enough to "follow" .

When you justify your bigotry using the Bible as the source of your intelligence, you single-handedly showcase the face of ignorance that holds our society back from growing. There is so much more I can say about the Bible and christianity, but there is no need for drama at this time. We, as in those who live in this generation, are lucky enough to be who we want and choose to be and yet, sects of blind, pretentious cultists force their ancient morals down societies throats. Why? Why are people so obliged to attack others over their personal choices? If someone is gay, transgendered or bi-sexual, why attack them? If you believe that they will be damned to hell, wouldn’t that be their problem? I have nothing against those who believe in their g(G)od(s) and privately practice their beliefs. In fact, I congratulate them on their ability to maintain their faith after all of the negativity generated by the different churches throughout the years. Still, to those who hate others for being different, I pity you and your ignorance. I’d much rather be in hell with the open-minded, intelligent individuals than stuck in heaven with the ignorant hate mongers. Kudos to Tom Gabel and anyone else who has openly admitted and proudly lived any lifestyle deemed “different”, that takes courage and a lot of self perseverance and security to handle.
Where in lies ignorance, dwells inevitable loneliness. Times have changed, the majority populous has become more accepting of different lifestyles. Those who hold onto their pre-set morals are shrinking on a yearly basis and maybe that’s why more radical groups like Westboro baptist feel obligated to drastically act out. Maybe, out of fear and desperation, these groups feel as if it’s their “christian duty” to supply enough hate to make up for their massive losses through the years. As every ancient general would say, “there is always strength in numbers”.. Well guess what, the ratio is changing, and there are just as many supporters as there are protestors now. North Carolina is one state out of 50, the United States is one country out of 193, christianity is one religion out of 20. Remember that.

If you’re from Southern New Jersey, then you’re already well aware of this band. See, the South Jersey music scene is rather funny, you have your Hardcore bands that bite off of Terror and Madball, your Pop Punk bands who bite off of The Wonder Years and Four Year Strong and then your Metalcore bands who.. well you get the picture. Despite all of the annoying, back-to-back generic bands that you’re subjected to, bands like Youth make going to shows enjoyable. They may or may not be total assholes, but that’s not the point. Since their first EP “Ancora”, they’ve built foundations within the Hardcore and the Pop Punk scenes. Why ? Well, it’s simply because they do not fit into either genre, which is probably what makes them so refreshing. They came in strong with the first EP and now have released their second, entitled Saudade, which is a great follow up from the first. Personally, my favorite off of this album has to be “Boy’s Chore” and not because it was featured in their bassists now infamous “iDermal” video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKVNVoBScFA). But because it’s different.
They definitely have a Melodic Hardcore vibe to them, but they incorporate the ideal emo/post hardcore instrumentals within each track. Another interesting thing is some of the slow, mathy intros to some of the songs like “Three Cassettes” , “Boy’s Chore” and “Shot Shore Range”. Each track of this album is unique, which shows that these guys have versatility and the ability to write more than what’s expected of them. Regardless, I predict that these guys are going to become a VERY VERY relevant band in 2012 and they definitely deserve it, even if Rob G is a fuckhead<3.
Anyway, let’s talk about “Shelf Life”.. This song has a La Dispute(Post Hardcorish) kind of sound within the first 30 seconds, however it changes pace and speeds up until around 2:09, where it jumps back. However, the most notable part of this song has to be the outro which is from 2:30 to the end of the song. This track definitely showcases this bands potential and I’m really anticipating their next release. Thanks for reading/listening/whatever.
These pills, they make you bitter
Like their taste, you always shiver
And your eyes, they’re always cold
Like the lies that you’ve told

For Fans Of: Turnover, Seahaven, Young English, Youth, Balance and Composure
This band underwent a huge change from their first release “The Only Place I Know” to their more recent EP “Young States”. Also, these dudes are younger than I am (I am 19 and a freshman in college). Holy shit! Right? Citizen is really hard to classify into a genre. They take elements from Post-Hardcore, Emo, Punk and Pop Punk-They also have an indie vibe to them as well. However, whatever they are, they are doing it well. This split is hands down the best split of 2012 thus far. (Yes, over the Young English/Pentimento one) These guys have a really bright future and I’m really stoked for their full length which is supposed to drop sometime this summer. Anyway, check out both sides of the split, Turnover is great as well. Oh and make sure you get “Young States” by Citizen, it’s solid.
